When Leah started college, she realized there was a huge opportunity to organize civically oriented and politically ambitious young women and provide her peers with the chance to become more engaged, learn valuable leadership skills and prepare for their futures. She joined IGNITE, a national nonprofit organization that provides college programming to address the barriers that impede political ambition, and offers young women a like-minded and passionate community from which to learn and grow.
She founded the first Florida collegiate chapter of IGNITE on the University of Florida's campus which has instilled confidence in participants by building leadership skills and deepening their expertise around policy issues. She coordinates monthly workshops with community leaders so that their members are exposed to the possibilities their futures hold while learning valuable career lessons. She serves as a camp counselor for Girl’s Place, dedicating countless hours to empowering future female leaders. She's also involved with ACCENT's Speakers Bureau and the Students Taking Action Against Racism Committee. In 2020, she published a children’s book called Leah’s LeadHers to promote civic engagement among our youth.
